Legacy Giving

It is a special person who thinks ahead and makes plans for the benefit of others in the future, to leave the world a better place. Bend Habitat for Humanity Legacy Society is designed to recognize these forward-thinking friends.

We are always delighted to welcome new members to this exclusive group, and there are only two requirements for membership. First, make arrangements to benefit Bend Area Habitat for Humanity beyond your lifetime. These arrangements might include a bequest in your will, or a plan that provides life income and income tax benefits, like a Charitable Gift Annuity. Second,  let us know about your plans. It is not necessary to specify a dollar value for these plans, but having some idea of the details allows us to plan for the future and is appreciated.

While it is not possible for Bend Habitat for Humanity to provide tax or legal advice, we do have access to the Planned Giving experts who can provide information using the latest planned giving software and we will be happy to help you sort through your options in preparation for a visit to your professional advisors.

Planned Gifts

Your values are an integral part of the legacy you leave. Making a planned gift to Bend Area Habitat for Humanity will have an impact that will be felt for generations to come, while also offering financial flexibility and tax benefits for you and your loved ones.

Which Gift is Right For you?

A Bequest is a gift from your estate. Your gift can be a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. A bequest enables us to continue building safe, decent and affordable housing in our community and may help to reduce your estate taxes. Any bequest to Bend Habitat is deeply appreciated. The most useful bequest, an unrestricted bequest, permits us to strategically direct your gift where it’s needed most.

Life Insurance Beneficiary Designation
Making a beneficiary designation through your life insurance plan is a cost-effective way to support affordable housing development and home ownership programs that tangibly impact the lives of our partner families.

Retirement Beneficiary Designation
Beneficiary designations provide an easy and affordable way to support the work of Bend Area Habitat for Humanity at a future date. They can cost you nothing during your lifetime. Name Bend Area Habitat the beneficiary of an IRA, 401(K), or assets from another qualified retirement plan to help build a legacy of affordable housing in Bend.
